Green substance in pool after backwash

Very new to the pool world. Have a 24 ft above ground pool and was trying to vacuum for the first time. I have a salt water system and with the vacuum still in skimmer and the filter still running, I switched to backwash. When I switched back to filter there was a green substance flowing out of the return fitting. Now my pool is a cloudy green. What is it and what do I do? Thanks

Welcome to tfp, Joseph71908

Did you do a put the valve to rinse and pumped till sit glass was clear, before returning to filter?

Green coming from the filter is likely algae, how did the pool look before you dumped the green into it?

If it is algea, then you need to do the shocking process.

Welcome to TFP.

If you didn't stop the pump when switching the valve you have probably dislodged the spider gasket. That will cause dirty water to return to the pool.

How are you chlorinating the pool?
Do you have a set of test results that you could post?
