IG liner DIY?

Just got a quote to do my liner.... $3800. WOW!!!! 20x40 with approx 9ft deep end. Is this something that can be done DIY? My brother has a friend who has done a dozen of these and says he can do it. The pool company said from what they can see my pool looks solid and they didnt anticipate much work needing to be done on the floor or the sides... Any thoughts?
