We have had our 2 HP filter pump fail twice in the last week, 4 times in the last year. It is covered under a home warranty. The capacitor was replaced once and the pump was re-built or replaced with another re-built pump twice, the last time less than 1 week ago.

The DE filter was completely cleaned 3-4 weeks ago including an acid wash of the elements. Filter pressure was approximately 16-17 psi yesterday. Found pump not working again this morning. Re-set breakers...pump ran for 3 seconds and tripped again (same issue last week). We have an additional waterfall pump which works fine. Tried setting up for a backwash to change direction of flow but pump trips after a few seconds.

Can this be another issue or is it just a bad pump again?

We live in the Phoenix area which got hit with a massive dust storm yesterday afternoon. Pool water is murky

Pool is 30,000 gal (Pebble Sheen) with 2 HP AO Smith filter pump. Filter is Sta-Rite vertical grid DE filter.

Time to raise heck with the warranty company. Tell them this time you want a new motor, not some crappy "rebuilt" that have had nothing more than new bearings installed. And new wires from the pool panel to the pump. You could have voltage drop. Pumps need a certain amount of wattage. If the voltage is too low, the amperage will go up to compensate, and too much amperage will cause things to heat up; solder joints start melting, all sorts of problems.
