Solar Cover question.

Just got my new solar cover. It is on a 18'x48" Intex Ultra Frame. The cover was cut big! Really big! My question is: Does the entire cover need to sit on top of the water? I have it pushed down to the water, but there is up to 12" of cover coming up the side of the pool and hanging over. Should I trim the cover? It is a 16 mil cover.

Trim it down so all of it is floating. Wind will catch it if you don't and peel it off the pool.

....and don't do what I did. Ensure bubbles are down prior to cutting. Maybe not a big deal with circular or rectangular pools, but with mine it was. I learned the hard way to think twice, cut once!
