De filter and segment

Is it ok to use a DE filter along with a SWG? I was planning to use a Pentair FNS DE filter along with a Hayward Aqua Rite SWG. Someone told me that this particular DE filter is for fresh water pools only. Is there a difference between a saltwater pool and a pool with a SWG? Am I ok with this setup?

Sounds like BS to me. Pentair describes it as being made of fibreglass reinforced polypropylene. That plastic is impervious to almost everything. But I looked up the Owner's Manual and did Ctrl+F for salt and got nothing. The word doesn't appear. If there's a problem using salt, you'd think there'd be a warning somewhere in the Owner's Manual, wouldn't you?

Was this someone who told you a salesman of some sort?

My friend that told me has a DE filter with no SWG and he said the label on his DE filter says for fresh water pools. I could call Pentair on Monday.

Is your friend's filter tank stainless steel?

If so, that's why that label is there.
