Pool Opening and 60psi on sand filter

I just opened my pool and can't figure out why my sand filter is running pegged at 60+psi. I opened the sand filter to find plenty of sand in the tank. I backwashed gallons and gallons of water.... and the glass monitoring tube showed clean water.

When I shut the pump off the sand filter gauge says around 48psi....never going to zero.

This hayward sand filter is less than a year old. Any ideas of what I might try next?

Sounds like you need to replace the pressure gauge. Cheap and easy fix.

Thanks, that's exactly what it was. Took it off and it still read 50psi.

Just picked up a new one for $13.
