My Polaris 280 keeps sucking its little tail thingy up into the suction part. Any way to keep it from doing that?

Does the tail have the floats on the hose? EDIT: disregard the float comment! They are not on the tail! 
Tails do not have floats.
Is the tail sweeping side to side to quickly or not at all? It should move but not so hard that it's end should whip around. There is a stainless, spring loaded screw there that lets you adjust the flow to the tail.

The tail does seem to sweep quickly. We will try adjusting the flow. Thanks PoolGuyNJ.
