That's what we were thinking with the Intex SWG -- if it worked well enough, and lasted even just one season (hopefully more) it would be a cheap way to try it. After a couple years of this pool, we may wind up with one.
In the meantime, I am happy to report that there was absolutely no slimy feeling anywhere in the pool tonight! All the leaves from the past two days' storms were removed, we brushed, and we were at FC=6.5, CC=0 and Ph=7.6 tonight, with super clear water. Added some bleach awhile ago to keep us going tomorrow!
