I have a Rule 1800 gallon-per-hour pool cover pump that works quite well. You can get one on Amazon for around $110. This is for my electric safety cover over a 16'x32' pool. It automatically comes on for a few seconds every few minutes to see if there is any water (it can tell by feeling resistance) and if there is then it stays on until the level drops. You just need to attach a hose to it. I pipe my water back into the pool to overflow it during the winter since that's how I dilute the water each season, but you can of course pipe it to a storm drain instead.
