Quick question on this thing. Just took apart the whole hose system to clean it (algae issues after we bought house, owners had moved out long ago). How far from the cleaner should the back-up valve be placed? Also, should the jet be on the front side of the hose or the back side? Does it matter? I'd guess the front side would maybe help it back up better but I'm not sure it matters.

Hmm.... looks like I have the back-up valve too close to the polaris. Or the previous owner cut that portion of the house too short, anyway. I don't know if I have much of an option except to buy new hose.
Also it sounds like that guys needs nuts on his swivels.

Oh no... what happened? Pictures?
Oh I just cracked the swivel and it was spraying water everywhere. Not surprisingly the little guy that could, Paul, we call him, didn't have the power to get past the steps or really suck anything up anymore. But I replaced it no problem.
