Hard Water

I know it is suggested that if you check your water and it is "hard" you should do a partial drain and refill it. But what if your water is very hard coming from the tap? We have hard water here (city water) so wondered if there was a way to get it "softer".

Hard water is high in calcium....what does your CH test tell you if you test the tap water?

I will have to check it. I know this spring when I tested the water in the pool prior to adding any chemicals it was high but it was straight from the tap, but I don't remember numbers.
