pump for an 18 foot intex pool

Last summer we bought an 18 foot round intex ultra frame pool and the saltwater clorinator. We used the pump with paper filter it came with. We have a lot of small debree floating in the pool so I spend a lot of time using the hand net to get it all out. If I was to but a stronger filter would it clean the debree up? Everyone complains about the filters and ladders they come with so why is Intex still using them? Would this filter work?

I'd go with the 2650 16" sand filter pump. It's a much better unit than the one you linked to.
