Connecting hard PVC to a ribbed Hose fitting

Hey everybody - I'm new to the forum and lookingo an answer I'm sure someone has run into ...

I was given a new DE filter and pump and both have the molded ribbed hose fittings on them (both inlet and outlet). I currently have it all "hosed" up to my pool, but would really like to install hard PVC pipe. The pool skimmer and pool return have female 1 1/2 threaded connections avail - but I'm not sure of the best way to attache the hard PVC to the ribbed fittings on the pump and filter. Suggestions?
 
This is what I did on my molded skimmer box it is the hose fitting on the skimmer and a hose fitting on the end of the pvc pipe.
