Small Crack in Heater header

Hi there,
I have a Laars LT250NS-C heater with a small crack to the header, beside the plumbing (see pictures).

It has been siliconed (caulked) and worked for a couple days then a small leak started. So i took off all the silicone and reapplied some more. I am not sure if i will hold or not.

I priced out replacing the header, and they want $750 for the part alone, plus installation. I live in Canada, and i cant find any online stores that would be any cheaper, and all the pool stores are similar pricing.

Has anyone run into a problem like this before? The material is a plastic (heat resistant), and i don't think silicone is the best material to stick to plastic. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

There is no need to replace the entire header if that cap is the only part that's leaking.

Do you have any idea how that piece would come out? I tried turning it but I wast sure if that piece actually come out? Anything pop to mind?

It unscrews counter clockwise. If you take a look at the picture in the second link I gave you, you will see the threads and an o-ring.

You won't be able to remove the part by hand. You will need to remove the silicone and use a wrench to remove the part.

Same heater same problem was it worth fixing?? Or did it happen again
