I have noticed that we have iron stains mainly on the steps going down into our pool. I tested this morning and realized we have NO chlorine (probably b/c it has been over 100 degrees for a few days outside!) I thought it would be a good time to do the ascorbic acid treatment. However, we have friends coming in this week and the 4th of July is coming up. How long will the pool be out of commission for swimming?

I strongly urge you to wait until after the holiday to start an AA treatment. It could be out of commission for a week or so. Time varies.

You can spot treat the stains (if there aren't too many) with crushed cheap vitamin C tabs in a sock.

No. You should crush the vit c tabs in the sock and hold the sock on the stains for a few minutes. Move the sock around and see if this will work.mdpennin said:
