When I was in high school we actually tried that at my friend's pool, when his parents were out of town of course. We built a fire in a big galvanized tub rather than a wheelbarrow, which is quite possibly even stupider than the picture! It was working great for about 30 seconds, before it cracked, leaked, sizzled, and the whole thing sank into the water. Oops.
