Sudden Rise in PH and TA...Not sure why?

I have been baffled by this. My pool prior to June 19th was testing right at 7.4 ppm for the pH and prior to June 1 the TA was 90. I just got back from vacation on the 18th...and now since the 19th my pH has been pushing toward 7.6...colors don't quite match up...but it seems to match more closely to 7.5, but darker...but not quite the same color as 7.6 on my tester. And my TA jumped all the way to 140ppm.

I shocked my pool before I left on June 7...put in two gallons took it to 16 ppm...which with my CYA at or just above 40 ppm was shock value. Pool did not and still doesn't have any algae problems...and appears to hold FC very well.

Could these TA and pH numbers be rising because I had my clear solar cover on all that time, and only ran pump 6 hours per day instead of 12 as I normally do while the temperature was in the 90s most of the time and we got at least an inch and a half of rain. Would the water temp rising for about 78 to 94 during that time cause the issue. When I came back I had 1 ppm of FC left and tested for and recored no CCs...

    Any advice???

Me personally. I'd retest. But I'd wait a couple of days. Get your FC back where it belongs and get back into normal maintenance mode. Your pH is in range and the TA isn't going to break anything in a couple of days.

On occasion, I'll get a test result that is unexpected or unexplained. I've learned, that at least for me, most of the time was a testing error. Depending on what the item is, I may or may not wait a little while to retest. If I get a crazy FC or pH result, I'll test those again immediately. If the retest validates your results then make adjustments. If they conflict, do one more retest. Then you'll have a 3 test sample, and have a better idea which result is more likely to be correct.

I guess, I'll add why, I suggested waiting. Mainly, because when making adjustments its usually best to changing one thing at a time. This give you better control of whats going on and more predictable results. In this case getting the pool back to normal maintenance mode. Then making a TA adjustment as needed.

Also, I guess cause I tend to be lazy and doing nothing, or at least doing less is easier.

Could solar cover and hot weather increase TA thus increasing pH over 10 days???

Checked at lunch...and pH is drifting back downward toward 7.5...Funny thing is that the tempurature had drifted down from 94 Tuesday and 92 Wednesday to 87 today. Is there a correlation between TEMP and pH?
