AquaTrol - Frustration

Hi all... great site. Lots of info, but I havent quite found the solution to my problem.
Here it goes:
This past weekend I bought and installed an AquaTrol (AL-7).
I had the water tested at my local pool store before dumping the salt. The water was ready for the change.
Dumped the salt, let pump running for 24hrs with the SWG powered but OFF. Display showed 2800. Power LED on.
After the first 24 hrs, switched the SWG to Auto. Display showed 2800. Power and Generating LEDs on.
5 hrs after, display showed 1400. Generating OFF, Test Salt and Inspect Cell solid ON.
Switched SWG OFF and added more salt. 20 hrs later I switched the SWG to Auto and I get

Power, Test Salt, and Inspect Cell LEDs solid on.
I had the water tested again. It gave 4400 ppm. So, I backwashed and refilled. Pulled the SWG braker off, checked the cell, etc.
Back on again, and I keep getting the same diagnostic with the same LEDs on.
Tried the recalibration, but instant salinity doesnt change.
Any advice?

Still 0 ppm, Test Salt and Inspect Cell ON this morning.

I think it's time to call the mfg. I wouldn't touch a unit that new until I contacted either the place you purchased it or the mfg.
