My pool never had one until today. Will I see a big improvement in the cleanliness of the top water of my pool? Primarily all the bugs I have been getting?

EDIT: assuming the wind cooperates ... if the winds here are going the wrong way ... all the floaters stay on the wrong end of the pool.

Does the weir have to fit super tight? Mine had like an 1/8 inch on each side. But after I pulled the plugs it stayed in place. Will I be ok or should I have tried to get one that fits perfectly?
Well, it needs to move freely, so you can not get one too tight. Odds are that will work. The point is to keep the stuff in and not be able to float back out ... it also helps to pull in more from the top.
