Help with pump/filter size

Hello all, I'm trying to figure out if the pump/filter that is currently hooked up to our pool is too much for it or not. Here are the specs:
Pool: 24'x52" AGP, with resin frame
Filter: Hayward Xstream C1500 w/1.5hp pump

The specs for this filter are:
100gpm
8 hour turnover of 48,000gal

Now, the previous owners had another pump/filter combo that worked, but for whatever reason they had the bigger one hooked up. The smaller one is a Hayward Easy-Clear C400 with a 1hp pump.
50gpm
8 hour turnover of 24,000gal

Which one is a better sized combo for a pool this size?

One of the reasons I'm wondering is because we currently have a Chlor-Ease SWG, but it's about 4 years old and I'm looking at replacing it this year or next. I'd like to give one of the Intex chlorinators a try, but the max GPH on them is around 4,000, and the C1500 has a GPH of 6,000.
