We have a vinyl pool with a SWG. Every time our FC gets below 6 we start to grow algae. Should we just keep it at 6-8? TA & PH are in range but CYA is only 50. Will the CYA being a little low cause that? Is it ok to just make sure the FC doesn't fall below 6? Will that damage anything?

Sounds like you are just barely staying ahead of the algae. I suggest you do an OCLT to determine if you need to do the shock process.
