Broken Union Valve Handle

Hi, Is it possible to change a valve handle on the Jandy valves? 2 of the handles broke in half and the other 1 is cracked and will break soon. See picture to see what I mean. One more questions....and maybe it should be a different post, but is this the best way to connect these pipes prior to the pump?

Though those aren't Jandy valves, you can replace the handle. They just pry up.

That configuration isn't bad.
