How to control heavy leaf load? PoolSkim?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or if it should be in cleaners.
My 20 X 40 vinyl only has one skimmer w/ 2 returns (no bottom drain) and we get a lot of leaves, flower pods off trees etc. blown into the pool. If the basket cannot be cleared regularly we have to turn the pump off to keep it from starving for water. I've read about the PoolSkim product in a couple of threads. I'm about to order one but thought I'd ask if a PoolSkim is the best way to collect the trash that blows into the pool or are there other types of products on the market.

I have one and they just work.. But you do have to go empty it!

With the heat and wind, leaves are falling off the trees like it's fall; the skimmer basket filled up twice today causing the pump to starve for water. The poolskim was delivered late today. I only had it running for a couple of hours but so far it works great.
