So I had my pool pump motor replaced yesterday (because the motor was burned up). Everything was running fine last night, but the motor was INCREDIBLY hot to the touch. I don't think this is normal. I immediately turned it off but am wondering what the possible causes are for this problem. I'm afraid that the same problem that burned the last motor up has still not been addressed. I'm so new to this though, I don't even know the possibilities. Any ideas are welcomed.

Wiring the motor for the wrong voltage can cause dramatic over heating. About the only other thing that can cause significant problems is running the pump dry or with extremely limited water flow. Check your return jets and make sure they still have good water flow.
