This AM, I didn't hear the normal humming of the pool equipment coming from the pool house. I went in and - silence. The breaker had not tripped. Even after turning the breaker on/off - I get nothing. What is my problem? A blown motor? I had just gotten my water clear and don't want to lose it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's kind of vague. What all should be running? Just the pump, or is there other equipment that wasn't running either?

There is no timer. The pump runs 24/7 and always has. I'm a new pool owner, but all that's in there is: pump and filter. That's why I thought it must be a motor gone bad.
Was the motor hot to the touch?
What happens if you leave the switch off for a few minutes and then turn it back on? Does it hum for a few seconds?
Are you comfortable testing for voltage at the motor?

Truthfully, I didn't touch the motor. I did try to turn breaker off for a few minutes and then back on - nothing happens - silence only. I'm not comfortable testing for voltage really. My wife thinks that she smelled a "hot" smell last night in there.
I suggest calling a friend with some electrical experience or a handyman and let them check it out for you.
Without any indications except it not running, it's going to be impossible for us to tell you what's wrong.
A friend that can test voltage would narrow it down a lot.
