    Old sand filter

Guys I have a used doughboy I'm setting up and the sand filter I have no idea how old it is. Or how long it was not used. Should I worry about changing the sand( I'm assuming it's replaceable) before I start using the pool or just use it and see how effective it is? What's the cost of replacement sand or entire filter?

Sand doesn't cost all that much, but it is a pain to change and almost never needs changing. You might open the filter up and look at the sand. If it looks like sand and isn't clumped up badly you are fine.
