make a inground liner pool more shallow

Hi.. I currently have a 20 x 40 liner pool that has a 8' deep end. I would like to make the pool more shallow. We play a lot of games and it would make for a much more social place with the pool more shallow. I would like to have the shallow end as is.. then gets gradually deeper, to say somewhere around 5' or 6'.
My question is, how do I do this? How do I make the deep end more shallow... with gravel?? Has anyone ever attempted this?

You should be able to fill in the deep end with gravel and finish it with pool Crete and drop a new liner.
