What is the brown stuff that builds up if you don't brush and vacuum? If I run my had across the bottom where I see it, it goes away like a fine powder. It isn't algea is it? My chlorine is fine and the water is clear.

    Probably dust.

I know my pool chemistry is perfect, and I can still raise a cloud of dust with the Wall Whale, especially if it's been windy. If your windowsills, patio table, etc. have dust on them, so does the pool. 'cept it sinks in the pool and likes to cling to the walls for some reason.

Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!
