So I finally got a K-2006 kit and I was wondering how to interpret the CYA test. Should the black dot entirely disappear :?: Thanks.

Yes, the black dot should completely and totally disappear, as if it was never there, even after you stare at it for several seconds. The test is designed to be done in bright light, ideally direct sunlight with the view tube shaded by your body.

Thanks. Also when I add the DPD powder it takes quite awhile to dissolve, if it's not completely dissolved will that influence the results of the chlorine test?

Are you swirling it around? I on occassion, crush the larger crystals in the jar and it seems to work better too.

It is irrelevant that the powder be completely dissolved. There is almost always some powder left in the solution and it has no effect on the test.
