What are the symptoms of very high CH? If you didn't have a test kit, how does it present itself?

Calcium scale and a calcium ring around the waterline.

You'll also have water spots on glasses out of the dishwasher, white crust on faucets and showerheads, maybe a ring around your toilet bowl, lots of white film on shower tiles. These all indicate hard water, and if that's what you're using to fill the pool, your pool will have high CH.
