IS this to big for my pool?

I bought a 1.5 proline pump last year. I am attaching the specs, can someone tell me if this is way too big?
My pool only has 5000 gal. The weird thing that happened last year, is when I attached the vacum to the inlet,
the hose going from the inlet to the pump was being suck flat. I will sell this if I need to.

W-a-a-a-y too big! Smallest one you can get (around .5hp) would be perfectly adequate
