Is This Brown Algae?

That looks like a 190L Jacuzzi laser sand filter. Could take a picture of the pump label or post the model number?

That sand filter is very small for your pool...it is 1.97 sq. ft. and if you were buying a new one, we would suggest about at 4.7 sq. ft. one, since you have fairly large pool. Are you sure that your water depth is 4 feet, or is that your pool wall?

But...just because your filter is small is not the end of the world. It can still clear the pool, but to do so, it will most likely need to be backwashed more often.

What does your pressure gauge read when the pump is off?

What does your pressure gauge read when the pump is on, and your filter has just been backwashed so it is clean?

When your filter goes up 25% from it's clean pressure, then it time to backwash. Don't backwash before since a sand filter is a little more effective as it's pressure goes up a little.

Assuming the debris in your pool is pollen, then one way to clear it is to stir it up often while pump is running (one way is by swimming, but another way is by brushing). Hopefully most of it will see the filter and get filtered out.

Vacuuming the pollen to waste is another way of removing it, though pollen tends to disperse in the water more than go up a vacuum hose (due to being easy to stir up).

If these two approaches do not work, using DE in a sand filter can help clear a pool faster. See: http://www.troublefreepool.com/pool-school/add_de_to_a_sand_filter
