LQ flow indicator issue

I see the inside of my liquidator has lots of teeny bubbles clinging to various places. Sometimes these gradually get drawn into the hose and end up clinging to the little ball, undoubtedly causing it to read higher than it really is. Apparently some of these bubbles break loose, and instead of getting sucked through, a pocket of air forms above the ball. This causes the ball to read to low. So periodically I have to stop the pump, and loosen the black cover to allow the air to escape, then tighten the cover and restart the pump, and life is good again. Has anyone found a fix to this, or perhaps found a better flow meter?
