    Automatic pool cover

I am having a problem with my pool cover. I can't get it open. The motor turns, but when the cam slides over to turn the post, the motor just can't move it. It hits and stops. I am pretty sure that it is an overload for the motor. But, Why? the pool is drained pretty low, so the cover is not floating. I hesitate to fill the pool without being able to see it. Are the covers and mechanisms designed for the cover to be floating? If anyone has some guidance, I would appreciate it.

The drag on the cover can cause it to bind up. You should get the pool back to normal operating level prior to trying to operate it. You can always put a pipe wrench on the shaft and manually open it.
