    Debate!! Fact or Myth

    If you have a solar cover on your pool, the sun will not eat as much chlorine as if your pool was uncovered?

    Having this debate, and I know you have the answer!

    14,600g / 24ft. Round Above Ground with Solar Cover and solar heater panel.
    Vinyl Liner
    Hayward Cartridge Filter (CCX 1500RE)
    2 HP Hayward Powerflo LX Pump
    Pool and solar heater get full sun, when its shinning daily!!

    Solar cover saves significantly on chlorine.

    Depends on the cover. Clear covers will not prevent as much UV extinction loss as a colored or opaque cover.

    Yes....but even a clear cover will prevent loss compared to no cover.

    I use a clear cover and can't tell any difference in FC loss whether it's on or off. Absolutely no difference. It does make a big difference in heat retention.
