Sand filter plus cartridge filter

Hello,
I would like to pick the brains of the experts.
I just purchased the Intex 16'x48" ultra frame pool.
I have a Hayward C550 cartridge filter canister.
I am looking at purchasing the Intex 2650GPH sand filter.
I was thinking of connecting the Haward filter behind the sand filter.
would this idea create to much back pressure on the .75 horsepower motor.
I know this is over kill, but the Intex sand filter is less expensive than a new pump.
Any input would be great full.

That would more or less work, though it would be less efficient and more maintenance than using only a single filter.

I had that same pool with the intex 2650
That filter is perfect for that size pool

Take a look on craigslist for a pump, you might find a good pump for less than you think!
