1st time pool owner need pump advice

I just bought a 16X48 Intex ABG. I'm about two days away from getting the foundation done and setting up the new pool!!!! I've been reading alot here and online about pumps. The pump that comes with the pool is a 1000 gph cartridge filter/pump. From what I've read, I believe I need somewhere between 1500 and 2000 gph. Is this correct? Secondly, I'm thinking that cartridge is the way to go for me since it seems to be lower maint than sand or DE. Any and all advice is much appreciated!!

I don't know how much lower maintenance you can get than a sand filter. Pressure gets too high, you backwash and rinse. Pretty dang simple. Better than scrubbing or soaking cartridges, IMHO.
