Use beaded liner strips as overlap strips

Is there any reason why I cant use the beaded liner casing as the strips that cover the overlap liner on the pool. It seems like the same concept, and I can just take a straight razor and cut the bead receiver off of the existing strips. Sorry to sound so cheap guys, but I tend to try to use the stuff I have around the house instead of just buying new. Any reason why this would not work?

Should work as long as it fits and holds the liner tight in the top rail gap.
