Hayward Leaf Canister or Zodiac Baracuda

Does the Hayward leaf canister or Zodiac Baracuda leaf canister connect to a standard vacuum hose for a hand vacuum? I still can't see the bottom of my pool and would like something that would allow me to see the dirt flow through the hose so I can tell when I'm vacuuming a really bad area. From what I have read it sounds like most leaf canisters are intended for use with an automatic cleaner. How do these two canisters connect to the hose and could they be modified to work with a standard hose? Thanks!
 
I have the Kreepy Krauly leaf canister. It came with a white adapter hose that lets you put the canister inline with your existing hose.

You should be able to connect it to any hose no matter what vacuum head is attached to it. I have used mine with my hand/pole vacuum a bunch of times.
