Hayward super pump calcium accumulation on motor with SWG

Hi Everyone,

I replaced my pool pump 2 years ago with a new hayward super pump. When I opened the pool this week-end the pump would hum but would not start and the breaker would trip. I unplug all the fittings and turned the pump over to notice that there was a huge calcium build up in the bottom of the motor. I'm guessing the seal must have been leaking last summer without me noticing. Does anybody know of a pump that is more resistant to salt water. I'm sure the seal uses up faster due to the SWG.

Thanks for the input.

Strictly speaking, the variable speed pumps would be more resistant just because they use TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled) motors on them. However, any pump should last a long time as long as the seal remains intact.
