Suction Port Filter

Hi Everyone,

I have a skimmer on one side of my pool and a suction port on the other. The suction port is simply 1.5" PVC and is threaded inside. I've put a PVC cap with drilled holes in it before, but just wondering if they make filter/fitting/cover (not sure what to call it) that will screw into the port and keep it from sucking in leaves, etc...? Or should I just let it suck in the leaves? Safety is also a concern, so something that would make it less likely for hair to get pulled in would be welcome.

I'm sure there are several mfg's making them but Waterway makes an 1½" threaded skimmer equalizer cover. It's a Super Maxi-Flo Skimmer Equalizer Suction, part #640-8037 V, It's VGB compliant.
