I have a second story rooftop solar. If I shut off the pump, I get a backflow through the pump/filter/to the skimmer.
I relieve this issue somewhat by closing the solar for about fifteen minutes before shutting off the pump. Apparently this allows the pipes to bleed slowly, but I still hear clicking at my solar check valve as the water forces its way back down.
Will this cause a failure in the solar valve eventually? Should I put in a more robust one-way valve where the water starts its climb up to the roof?
