Tail add-ons for cleaning

I have a Letro Legend cleaner and want to know about the various "add-ons" I've seen at the pool store. Currently on my tail are hard rubber washers that I have replaced a few over time as they wear down. But now I've seen at the pool store foam cylinders that go on the tails to help with cleaning. Should I put these on?

The cleaner works great, I just want to be sure I'm getting the best clean possible.

The tail is designed to knock somewhat stuck on debris free. Softening it's sweeping , except for the foam end piece doesn't make much sense to me without having seen these things in action.
