Brushing pool walls

How hard do you need to push the brush against the walls to clean then? I have a vinyl above ground and due to the angle I am outside the pool it is hard to push hard to brush the walls. Is lightly moving the brush over the surface of the walls sufficient?

vinyl pool have a smooth surface so it dosen't require much to brush loose the dirt. If the ammount of pressure you are able to apply is not enough you may need to make more than one pass when brushing

The "whale pool brush" allows the brush to stay close to the walls. Do a google on that brush. I like it, but my wife doesn't. She says it's too hard to push down. I like the fact that it stays on the walls much better.
