The overflow drain pipe is busted somewhere under our deck. We know this because the dirt under the end of the deck started eroding and water leaking from that area. We confirmed this by putting a hose into the overflow drain line and the water flows out into the planter (right of the picture) from under the deck. The planter has not been filled in yet.
PB tried tunneling under the deck to find the leak. Somehow, he determined it is broken near the point where the overflow comes from the pool, which is at least 10 feet from the outside of the deck (next to the skimmer in the picture). Instead of busting up the concrete or continuing to tunnel under the deck, he wants to cap that line and put in another one at the back of the pool. He wants to drill a hole through the gunite into the tile line and put in a pvc pipe to create a new overflow that just drains into the yard or a planter. At the back of our pool, the pool is at least a foot above the ground and we also have an 18" raised wall. Does this sound like a good solution? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.
