adding chlorine to winterized pool

I have one more long week until my pool is "summarized". I did open the cover slightly yesterday to fill the water to operating level and noticed an abundance of algae. It has been an unseasonably warm winter here in northern NJ. Would it be ok to dump a bunch of bleach into the pool before the pump is up on running so I can get a head start on clearing the water?

my pool is an 18,000 gallon in ground concrete pool with DE filter, gray colored hydrazzo surface

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Dichlor is just a form of stabilized chlorine. It is often found in bags labeled for shocking purposes. It dissolves quickly and adds CYA (stabilizer). Do not add it or anything though without the pump on and the water circulating. If you do, you can damage pool surfaces.
