If the entire valve is only around 40-50 bucks, I really don't mind purchasing a brand new one.

We plan on going to the pool store to try to purchase one (or get one online).

I will let you all know if it solves our problem once we get it replaced.

The problem with a new valve is that you really do not have much pipe to work with so installing it could be problematic. If you can just change some seals or the top, that would be much easier depending where the leak is located.
