I just purchased a solar cover form PoolSupplyWorld 12 Mil clear(very nice quality might I add) and I need to know how to attach it correctly. I have the reel and it has white straps with plastic screws on the end of them. The cover that was on the reel when I moved in to the house was destroyed so I threw it away. I'm wondering If I just need to purchase some sort of new kit?

You need to buy a new kit. It will have small clamps that attach to the cover and the straps. The ones I have used push in connectors that broke off and I had to replace them with stainless bolts.
