PB4 Booster Pump for Polaris

Is anyone else having the same issues I am having with this POS booster pump? This is my fourth swimming season and now this thing has seemingly gone out for the second time. I just bought a new one in 2010. Are they this pathetic or is something going on?

I turn it on and it just hums for about 30 seconds before a fail switch (I guess) kicks it off.

There are reports of those having problems with the centrifugal switch contacts corroding and not making contact, therefore the motor won't start. Take the back cover off and see if you see the contacts and take an emory board and clean them up a bit and see if that helps. If it's a switchless design, then it's likely the capacitor that's bad and they're easily replaced.

If I get the model number off of it can we tell if it is switchless?

Not sure if this is going to help but it is a Century Pool and Spa, model 1081, 3/4 HP and has PB4-60 on the top of it.

I cannot tell for sure but I think it is the capacitor. I think I will try to replace it.
