Solar Cover Reel - W/gears and W/out?

Does anyone have input into these two reel systems and if it is worth the extra $$ for the geared unit vs the non?

I don't think it makes a big difference in rolling it unless you have a huge heavy cover or are very small or weak.

I prefer less moving parts, so I'd go with the one without gears, but that's a personal preference.

No gears on mine and no problem with a 30ft cover. Agree with Bama 1 less thing to break.

Wife is 5'4 and 112lbs.... so wasnt sure. Cover is a good portion of a 20x40 rectangle cut to shape.

And that's the reason for my qualification of a small person trying to roll up 40' of 12 or 16 mil cover. In that case I'd probably go with the gears. Although she's probably going to have a problem moving it once she gets it rolled up. I'd look at a 4-wheeled reel also.

Which reel did you end up with, I am looking at the same exact reels as you were and just posted the same question, (Guess I should have used the search better):

The non-geared unit is what I went with (your option 1). So far, so good.
